How does optimization work?

Updated on: June 6, 2018

It is the process of determining the most cost – efficient route and meeting the demand within specified time with given resources i.e. utilising the maximum available capacity, thus invariably our objective is to minimize the cost function which is an amalgamation of Variable and Fixed cost with above stated constraints. LogiNext optimization considers both these costs i.e. Fixed pay out per resource and another which is a function of Kms run. It is not about only finding the shortest path but takes into consideration factors as number and location of all the required stops on the route.

Our engine is integrated with best – in class and multiple map sources (Google, Maps of India etc) which is of paramount importance as to aptly Geo- code customer location is the first step & goes long way in route optimization and is the first step. System even allows to manually drag and do the right Geo-coding is system somehow not able to do it. Planning supports all types of uses cases i.e. Cross Docking, Milk run whether in deliveries or pick- up or Hub and Spoke

Objective
Minimization of Cost
Constraints
Customer Demand
Customer Time Window – Delivery SLAs
Capacity of Resource
Availability and number of Resources
Maximum Time a Resource Can Work
Nature of Operations – Cross Dock, Hub & Spoke, Point to Point
Type and Skill Set of Resource
